Dallas forward Rich Peverley collapsed about seven minutes into their game with Columbus, and had to be rushed to the hospital. He was reported conscious. Pevreley had just returned to the lineup. He has a heart condition, similar to former Red Wing Jiri Fischer, whose career was ended by a similar heart condition in 2005.

Even if you didn't know him, you knew his songs
Pete Seeger died yesterday at age 94. You may not have heard his versions of his songs, but you have heard the covers of his songs, such as the Byrds classic versions of "The Bells Of Rhymney", and the immortal "Turn, Turn, Turn", which the lyrics were adapted from the Book Of Ecclesiastes. He also wrote "Goodnight, Irene", which became a huge hit in 1950, for his folk group The Weavers, "Where Have All The Flowers Gone", and the all-time sing along song "If I Had A Hammer", which became a hit for both Peter, Paul and Mary, and Trini Lopez in the 1960's.

My Favorite Redisms
I have become a big fan of the NBC show "The Blacklist". Here are some of my favorite "Redisms":
"Shall we get started?"
"Anslo, what brings you here?"
and on tonight's show:
"Janice, I'll have to take a raincheck on the stroganoff, it smells delicious".

MLS Schedule Change A Bad Idea
They're at it again. FIFA wants MLS to move to a fall-winter-spring
season, which is what many leagues around the world. I believe that this is a bad idea. Soccer in North America has always been a sport that roughly runs parallel to the baseball season, and that lessens the competition, as opposed to competing with the NBA, NHL, AND the Colossus of American sports, and, as others have stated on this thread, the climate in the northern part of the continent is absolutely brutal in the winter, which would probably kill any expansion into Detroit, for instance.

REALLY?
The USADA busted an 80 year old Masters age-group weightlifter for...using
Performance-Enhancing Drugs. REALLY ? An EIGHTY-YEAR OLD weightlifter on
'Roids? Are you serious? What is there to be gained for a man that age?
It's not like he is going to get cash for this! I think I have heard
everything now.

The First Pitch Hall Of Shame
Last night, U.S. Olympic legend Carl Lewis threw out the first pitch in Houston(?) and proceeded to throw the ball over everyone's head. This makes him a two-time offender. On his previous attempt, he gave Bud Selig and Carly Rae Jepsen a run for their money by essentially spiking his throw. This time around, he made sure THAT wouldn't happen again by throwing a pitch that the Jolly Green Giant couldn't get to.
