Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has been losing sponsors in the last two weeks. Is it surprising? NO. his image has changed from pristine to toxic in the last three weeks. Let's face it: If YOU were the CEO of a major corporation, would you hire him currently? I did not think so. I have seldom seen such a quick fall from grace in my life. Before the scandal, He was as well known(and thought of), as Muhammad Ali in his prime (actually more so, given the modern 24/7 media that did not exist in his and Pele's time).

TOO EARLY TO KNOW ABOUT WINGS

I've been asked frequently if the Red Wings are on their way down. My answer is: I DON'T KNOW!! it's WAY too early to be sure. They start the "dreaded Western Canada swing" tonight (It has that nickname because it has often been a burial ground for the Wings) in Vancouver, which is the first time they will face former teammate Michyal Samuelsson. We may know something further after the Calgary game on Halloween. I see that several teams are ahead of the Wings who normally are not, BUT, as I said, it is not even Halloween yet.

The World Series begins tomorrow night. It should be a good one, The Yankees and Phillies. I think it might be a toss-up. Isn't it long past time for the World Series? Baseball in New York and Philadelphia after Halloween (and possibly after Election Day) is ridiculous, despite what looks to be an excellent matchup.

The Lions should get their second win of the season this Sunday, as the Rams are 0-7, and IF the Lions beat them this Sunday, my well match the Lions' 0-16 of last year.

BREAKING NEWS:GRETZKY RESIGNS

BREAKING NEWS

Coyotes Coach Wayne Gretzky has resigned, undoubtedly as a result of the Phoenix ownership mess that has been going on all summer. Former Dallas coach Dave Tippett will take over.

I'M BAAAACCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'M BACK!!!

After taking the summer off, I have returned. Let's see what happened in the meantime: The Tigers are still in first(i believe they will hold on, and win their division), Ted Kennedy died, Jon and Kate, Rep. Joe Wilson, and Kanye West all embarrassed themselves in public. Miley Cyrus decied to pole dance on national TV (as if America needs THAT). 5 baristas in Washington State were wearing bikinis to work while letting customers fondle them, now, they have been arrested, and charged with prostitution: Gee, what a surprise.

All right, in the NHL, the Sharks acquired Dany Heatley from Ottawa. Many stories are making the rounds about trouble in the room there.

Various Things 2

Let's see... Before Michael Jackson died, Janet visited him, was shocked by what she saw, and found him "a bit creepy" HEL-LO! What rock was she hiding under for the last 20 years? BTW, I heard "Never Can Say Goodbye" on the radio this morning. Isn't that what the Staples Center memorial last Tuesday was about, SAYING GOODBYE?!

Jon Gosselin has another new girlfriend. I guess he needs to get back on the front pages, lest he get forgotten when Michael Jackson died.

Brandon Inge is in the All-star game. GOOD to see a good guy(as well as a heck of a defensive third baseman) get in the game.

The Wings lost three players. Many "experts" are saying Chicago is going to be the top team in the West now. I would agree with them, IF they hadn't lost their best goalie to Edmonton, while they were blowing cap space signing Marian Hossa. Cristobal Huet as your top goalie does not impress me much(He's okay, but not as a starting goalie for a cup contender).

Various things

Back-to-back miracles(The U.S. needed a three-goal win over Egypt, and a three-goal loss by Italy, they got both) put the U.S. Soccer team into confederations cup semi-final against Spain. I'm not expecting much tomorrow, but the fact they got there is good enough.

The "Curse of Reality TV Couples" struck again, as Jon and Kate announced they are calling it quits after 10 years of marriage. HOW did this couple, who promote wholesomeness, and family values, morph into a modern day version of the Loud family from the 1970's? He's supposedly got a mistress, while she supposedly has a boyfriend. So much for family values. Sheesh.

The Wings said goodbye to Chris Chelios. Chelios is 47 years old, It's time for him to retire.

Well, I got the Tigers score right

A co-worker asked me Friday, what the score would be , and I said "Detroit 3, Pittsburgh 1", as it turned out, I got the TIGERS score right,as they beat the Pirates that night, 3-1! Right score, wrong game.

Games Six and Seven

Game six, back at the Igloo, was more bad calls, slow boards (Dan Cleary was slashed on his breakaway, Pavel Datsuk was hit when he was nowhere near the puck, clearly interference) Fleury played great, and the Wings didn't wake up until it was too late. This all being said, the Wings should win the Cup in game seven back at the Joe, as Pittsburgh has not showed me that they can handle he lively boards at the Joe. another stat for you, in the previous 14 Game sevens in Finals history, the home team is 12-2.

Game four and five

Game four was more of the same, horse manure officiating(Jordan Staal's shorthanded goal was at least TWO FEET OFFSIDE!) , and The Pens taking advantage of the slow boards at Mellon to tie the series. Game five back at the Joe, the Wings changed everything, as they thoroughly dominated 5-0.

Game Three, Horrible Officiating

Game three...Penguns play 21 seconds with too many men, Hal Gill tackles one of our players, AND NOTHING HAPPENS!!!!! Mickey Redmond on WDIV last night aid the Wings got "the stinky end" of the officiating. He' s not kidding. Further, to the Red Wing Defense...BLOCK THE SHOT OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!! Osgood was at least somewhat screened on all three Pittsburgh goals that he allowed.

This afternoon, the Avalanche cleaned house, firing Tony Granato, and bringing in a new G.M., That organization is in a sad state.

Two games

The first two games of the Stanley Cup Final went mostly as I expected. The Wings started slow, then took command. A LITTLE KNOWN FACT FOR YOU: The Red Wings have won the last 25 playoff games, that they took the lead into the third period in. This being said, I would not be surprised if Pittsburgh wins Game three tomorrow night. That does not mean Pittsburgh will win the series(they won't), but they are not going to get swept, either.
