Women's World Cup: The First Four Days
Four days into the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, and one of the biggest stories has been the growing legend of Canadian forward Christine Sinclair, who scored a goal against Germany after breaking her nose. Canadian Soccer Blogger Daniel Squizzato has been sending humorous tweets referring to Sinclair's toughness with phrases like "Bobby Baun said it's ok", and "Tomorrow's game is make AND break, make the game, break French hearts". Sinclair is saying she has not been cleared to play tomorrow. I don't believe it. She'll play if she can breathe. The USA, meanwhile, cruised to a 2-0 victory over North Korea on goals from Lauren Cheney and Rachel Buehler, and will play Colombia on Saturday.
