It's Happened Again-Denny McLain Arrested

DETROIT TIGERS CLINCH DIVISION

The Detroit Tigers became the first team to clinch a divsion, as they won the American League Central by defeating the Oakland A's 3-1. The Tigers took the lead when Wilson Betemit tripled in the winning run, then added insurance on a Don Kelly home run. Doug Fister was brilliant as the winning pitcher, and Jose "Papa Grande" Valverde got his 45th save to finish the job. The Division title is the first for the Tigers since they won the American League East in 1987.
