London 2012, Days 8-11-CLASSIC!

London 2012 Days 8-11

The 2nd weekend of the London games began with the American legend Michael Phelps doing his thing for the last time, as he ended up with a record 22 medals, 18 of which were gold. The 18 golds represented as many golds as anyone else has medals.

Today, the US and Canadian women played a women's football semifinal for the ages, with a backdrop of Old Trafford(think Wrigley Field or Fenway Park for Americans), with penalties looming,  Alex Morgan scored in the 122nd minute, to help the Yanks overcome a three-goal hat trick by Christine Sinclair, win 4-3, and get the much-desired World Cup rematch with Japan Thursday at Wembley (think Yankee Stadium, Yanks).

While Phelps and the U.S. Women represented the good in the Olympics, Several badminton players represented the bad in the Olympics, by putting the bad in badminton, when they attempted to throw a match in order to get an easier opponent, Thankfully, they were sent home, and hopefully won't be invited back, this type of thing is absolutely disgusting, and unacceptable.

From the bad to the ridiculous, U.S. Judo competitor Nicholas Delpopolo was sent home after he tested positive for marijuana, blaming tainted baked goods! Nick, REALLY? People have been eating marijuana-laced baked goods for decades! Olympic athletes should know better than to eat brownies any time within months of the competition!
